Jhilam has her senior Diploma in Hindusthani classical music from Prayag Sangeet Samiti, Allahabad done in first division in the year 1986. Having been trained for years in Hidusthani classical music, Jhilam has the versatility that very few singers could achieve. She is equally at ease when singing Rabindra Sangeet as she is when she sings Ghazals. Her melodious voice is also perfect for ‘thumri’ which she learnt from her guru Vishushi Dipali Nag.

Jhilam RoyChowdhury has over two decades of experience in social development sectors. She has worked nationally on issues like Health, Education, Migration, Women Empowerment and Human rights.

Jhilam is a post gradute in Sociology and also successfully completed multiple post graduate studies from premier institutes in the country and abroad.

A past Hewlettw Packard Fellow on Reproductive Rights, Jhilam commands respect for her work in her field.

A strategist, planner, designer, trouble shooter and supervisor of meticulous execution of various programs under RILM, Jhilam takes special interest in communication & training in the social development sector. She is also visiting faculty in post graduate courses teaching ”Development Communications” to aspiring media professionals at various academic institutions and universities.
